What to wear wine tasting this weekend: Infiniti and SF Chef’s 2011 (8/5-8/7)
This weekend many San Francisco ladies will be headed downtown to enjoy the delectable yuminess of SF Chefs 2011 food and wine celebration in Union Square. If you didn’t know, SF Chefs 2011 is an epicurean event celebrating the unique flavor, diversity and bounty of Northern California held from August 5 – 7.The festival offers numerous opportunities to mingle with master chefs, mixologists, winemakers and other culinary superstars! Each offering their own exploration of taste featuring local products. Classes and seminars will offer interactive opportunities for the public to participate with local farmers, ranchers, chefs, winemakers, distillers, media, luminaries, authors, vintners, mixologists and culinary experts in an entertaining and memorable forum. The SF Chefs 2011 is being sponsored by luxury automaker, Infiniti, who is having their Road to Inspiration Sweepstakes – Allowing people to win an opportunity to win a two night getaway and join them in one famous culinary city: Miami, New York, or San Francisco. (Be sure to enter by clicking here!)
Now, entering the Road to Inspiration Sweepstakes is easy…Figuring out the right thing to wear to a flavor-filled event placed in a tasting tent in legendary Union Square, is a bit harder.
Being overly trendy or fashionable for an sophisticated occasion will most likely not only make you feel a bit overdressed but maybe even look a little clueless or flamboyant to those that are more experienced. And yes, you can always wear a sundress and your most comfortable pair of heels like when one would hop on over to Napa, but gaging San Francisco’s latest unpredictable weather, I wouldn’t recommend the risk of freezing in bare legs or flashing someone thanks courtesy of the wind. So what do you wear? Think practical! You’ll be getting in and out of seats a lot, perhaps shimmying here and there, so a great pair of denim would be most important. A comfortable pair of stylish boots, or your go-to transition booties, will be at the most reliable for standing in long lines, walking up and down hills, or chasing after your favorite celebrity chef. Keep it simple with a layer able basic tank and add something warm and fabulous to throw over your shoulders when the temperature begins to drop like Bobeau’s Open Front Slub Knit unconventional drapey cardigan. I would choose an unexpected color like Cinnarust. Dress up your outfit with a statement necklace and a few bangles and you’ll be fitted and fancy for the most sensorial event all year.
Don’t forget to stop by and connect with SF Chef 2011’s sponsors on twitter and facebook!
Cheers and Happy Toasting!
