The Beauty Bohemian: Cruelty Free Favorite with Mira Torres

Josie Maran Argan Oil Lipstick in Bambolina - I’m a sucker for pink lipsticks and this one is so deliciuosly pink I couldn’t help but fall in love with it at first try. It’s also infused with Argan oil so, unlike other typical high pigment lipsticks, it moisturizes instead of dries out the lips.

Mineral Fusion Tinted Moisturizer in Olive – I just found this a few weeks ago but I can already tell that I probably won’t ever be able to live my life without it. It’s actually improved my acne-prone skin’s condition, keeps away winter dryness, and covers just enough to hide any minor flaws. It is perfect for everyday and it’s available at Whole Foods! Whole Foods has really impressed me with their selection of in-store beauty brands. Everyone needs to get in there and shop the beauty aisle…Oh, if you’re hungry, buy and try some Bolani and Bolani spreads. They’re my favorite vegan munchies.

Qupid Faux Leather Revive Lace-up Boots – With the exception of a few high-end staple items in my closet, I’m a stickler for only using and wearing faux fur. I have an arsenal of man-made material shoes but my particular favorite this winter is my Nordic Print-lined boots by Qupid. They were actually featured in a shoestalking slideshow on San Francisco’s refinery29.com! They can be worn two ways and They’re also a total steal  for under $50.

Fleece-lined Leopard Print TOMS Shoes- I’m a sucker for TOMS. Alongside my Converse’s, they fast became one of my favorite go-to shoes for errand running. They’re incredibly comfy and backed up by a wholesome and charitable concept. I don’t have these fleece-lines ones yet, but I want them, terribly! I’m getting them for Christmas. Santa said so. :-)

I adore Vaute Couture! Vaute Couture anything, really. I worked with an Eco Fashioin website for years and was exposed to a billion eco and cruelty-free fashion labels. Two years later and Vaute Couture is still one of my personal, front running favorites. Their materials are incredibly soft and every design is completely comfortable, flattering, and fashionable. Founder and designer, Leanne Mai-Ly Hilgart is actually a model turned revolutionary Chicago-based, eco-designer who started one of the first cruelty-free, 100% vegan clothing companies on her own. The coats are to die for but I am in love with her tees. Especially the Oversized Sweater Tees which are perfect for San Francisco’s crazy unpredictable climate.

Tatcha Aburatorigami Blotting Papers. Fragrance-free. Powder-free. Oil-free. All-natural, biodegradable and absolutely no animal testing. The pretty, geisha-clad envelope is so easy to just store and have at the ready in one’s clutch or purse. They’re incredibly amazing at soaking up excess oil. I can avoid having to reapply makeup when I’m crunched for time and they are especially handy for days when I’m running from one place to another… or some nights one event to another.

It’s a complete misconception that it’s expensive or inconveniencing – Going cruelty-free is so easy! Everything nowadays is usually labeled or placed in their own seperate eco-centered spaces and most companies are striving to reach for a better, more earth and animal-friendly code of ethics making cruelty-free living far more accessible than it once was. Honestly, a lot of people are already using cruelty-free products (like MAC, Revlon, Bare Escentuals, and Smashbox) and they don’t even know it! Which I think is fantastic! Being eco and cruelty-free should be a norm for products and companies. Not just an option. Personally, I believe that being “good” counts most in the little things. Recycling bottles, vintage shopping, going local with groceries, using cruelty-free products – It’s important that we do all these little things everyday. They add up and  lead to the main goal – Which is for a better life and living for everyone now and in the future.

Simply Impressed by ShoeDazzle’s STEADY Boot

Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical withShoeDazzle. After all, though shoes are fun and I buy them often, anything that is remotely like an automatic payment is quite scary and not very smart for someone with a horrible shopping addiction like myself. Plus, a million questions ran through my head.  What if the shoes are crappy? What if I hate the selection? What if I can’t get my money back? What if I forget? And more importantly, will it be worth my hard earned $39.95? So, when I was given the opportunity to test out a pair of ShoeDazzle shoes, I hopped on it like a typical shoe-obsessed fashion fiend. Within the week, the shoes were at my door. Perfectly packaged in the cutest hot pink box adorned with the company label. The size 9 fit to a tee – absolutely true to size. And by golly were they comfy. I opted for the STEADY boho-chic boot in Maroon at first (Yah, was trying something different and should have known I’m a creature of habit) but opted to exchange it for a pair in black. Which was a breeze by the way! The sticker is already packaged, you can hand it to your UPS guy when he hits your neighborhood, and if there are any complications just give them a quick call and they are more than happy to fix the problem.

Though the process of purchasing and exchanging the shoes was a breeze, I was most concerned on whether the affordable price was going to give me the most bang for my buck. So, I wore those suckers out and about like there was no tomorrow for the rest of the week. I have to say, with the STEADY, the quality and comfort can be compared to a Seychelles… And for less than more than half the price, it could definitely give the boutique brand a run for it’s money.

So, it was a happy ending. ShoeDazzle’s STEADY boot has instantly become my walking shoe, perfect for this typical San Francisco late Summer/Fall transition. I could literally walk in them all day… and I have! Plus, the silhouette, style, and suede really gives off a luxurious look for way less. My favorite way to wear it is with a beige cape I bought for a steal at H&M and my favorite stretchy pair of J Brand Black Jean Leggings. Add on some accessories and I am glossy mag ready! Plus, when an Indian summer hits, I can pull off the cape and rock the staple black tank top I have cleverly worn underneath. Needless to say, I’ve signed up for the monthly ShoeDazzle club and eagerly anticipate the monthly showroom sent my way. Their selection of products -everything from bags, to accessories,to pajamas! – is amazing and if you don’t want or can’t find anything to buy for that month just skip it. Simple as that. The beginning quiz is fun to take, too. I’ve probably done it like 5 times just for kicks. Haha!

You and a friend can try ShoeDazzle for free with the StyleSays + ShoeDazzle giveaway going on right now. Just head to the StyeSays giveaway page here: http://on.fb.me/pKsRWh

P.S. It all started with Kim Kardashian and now Perez Hilton is the latest ShoeDazzle stylist. What do you think about that? I’m not really sure what kind of credibility Perez has style-wise but…I guess we’ll see.

Beyonce in a Champagne Haute Hippie Blouse

Multi-talented and still making waves with her beautiful face, banging body, and catchy musical beats. The newlywed, soon-to-be mama, Beyonce, is not just a legendary diva but also a style icon. I found this picture of her wearing the Haute Hippie Champagne Blouse and had to find out how and where to get it for myself. It’s the perfect “I’m gorgeous without even trying” top that is asbolutely ideal to wear for days when you might just run into a few old friends or even an ex-boyfriend. Ha! One must always be prepared! Beyonce wore it with a nice dark pair of skinny jeans and nude pumps but there are other ways to rock it, too. How about a pair of black leggings and black booties? Or a pair of denim shorts and platform esperadilles for spring? This top will transition you throughout the year making it an ideal staple that you can rock in a million different ways and with its chiffon material, sensual draping, and curve hugging seams, whether you’re Beyonce or not, you can bet that only your best assets will be noticed. More options? Try the ultimate luxury of the Chloe’s Silk Mouselline Ruffle Blouse or a super steal with Nasty Gal’s Utility Bat Wing.

Leopard-print loving with Ashlee Simpson and Nicole by Nicole Miller

Ashlee Simpson appeared at an event in West Hollywood last week wearing a super cute leopard print frock. She styled herself in an effortless cool ensemble pairing a belted, animal print shirt-dress with a black circle clutch and unexpected pair of strapp, vintage auburn heels. For the red carpet, it was the perfect look to dress-up and compliment her gorgeously platinum, side-swept pixie ‘do. Undeniable rockstar style? I think so. And I have to admit that I am completely digging the wildside or wildchild walk that she’s strutting. You don’t need a celebrity salary to take the chic stroll, of fierce leopard-clad coolness, alongside her. Be your own animal print trendsetter with the Nicole by Nicole Miller line. Everything below retails for under $100 and is available at JCPenney stores nationwide. From dresses, to bags, to even a delightful pair of platform heels, if you’re looking for some leopard to add into your life, you need to look no further.
