How do I wear this?… and Dove GO Sleeveless Giveaway Winners
So… I finally have time to write. I’ve been busy. Lots of change, lots of getting used to, and just…lots going on. But, I’ve missed you guys and want to get back into this writing thing and now that I’ve kind of acclimated to my current crazy situation of both at-home hibernation and full-time mommy duty, I can kinda of get back into this endless writing game again. Thanks for waiting and as always thanks for being so utterly fabulous… To start it off, I’m announcing what the winners of my Dove GO Sleeveless Challenge with Jessica Zhor last May 27 will be getting. Since I don’t want to completely pimp out their info, the winners have been announced only on my FB page here and twitter feed.
I just got the goodie bags in the mail today and have to say that they’re pretty awesome. Considering, 1. They’re free and 2. They’re things that you will actually use. Fun and functional is always a win, no?
What’s in them?
1. A L.L.Bean tote. Perfect for picnics and beach getaways. It’s sturdy and huge! In fact the box that these guys came in is pretty ginormous just so it could fit this super strong, yet lightweight, stiff tote. It’s blue and beige. I can totally see me at the next farmer’s market with this baby.
2. Two of the latest Dove deodorants. Pearl Finish (which has a light, girly scent) and Nourished Beauty. (It’s powdery and clean. Signature Dove smell.) Super moisturizing and keeps you fresh all day. Vitamin E and F. It also has 1/4 more moisturizers than any other deodorant on the market.
3. A copy of Instyle Magazine. Who doesn’t love magazines?
4. A Topshop Sleeveless tank-twist top. (?) It’s gorgeous. It twists at the back and has a cute little pocket in the front. Made of a silk like material and comes in this baby ballerina pink and I adore it but…Not sure how to wear it. Not sure if I got the wrong size because you can pretty much see my bra… Like all of it. Wearing it with some denim shorts today. Here’s a pic of the back:

Any suggestion would be awesome. I do absolutely adore it though and I am making it a point to wear it while the sun is here in San Francisco.
Congratulations to my Dove winners! I’ll be having more giveaways this summer, now that I won’t really have a choice but to be home and park myself in front of a computer. Be sure to follow me on twitter and fan my Facebook page. (I hate going through numerous entries so my #FB page is where I pick my winners at random.)
Thank you Dove for this awesome opportunity and to everyone else, Happy Summer!

San Francisco Fashion Week 2010 with SFFAMA: Part One
If anyone knows how to throw a two-day fashion event, in the heart of one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it’s the folks of SFFAMA. (The San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance) “The Reinvention” brought together the eager, color-lusting, silhouette-coveting fashion scene of San Francisco, by delivering a high power, high-energy , much-anticipated fashion show in an all-new, original, and innovative way.
Conveniently tucked in between the historical North Beach buildings, blocks away from the magnificent Pacific Ocean scenery, was the surreal yet chic Vitaminwater Social Club, where our festivities of fun and fashion took place. The free unlimited Vitaminwater, open bar, delicious cheese platters by Cheat A Little Catering (The goat cheese was divine!) and splendidly packaged goodie bags where just some of the many cherries on top of our “clothing-confectioned” cupcake this Friday and Saturday last.
Day One/Part One was exclusively Ready To Wear: SFFAMA collaborated wearable pieces created and designed by emerging local designers like Rock Chiq and Vintage Joy, as well as familiar fashion names like, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent and Generra. The accessories of leathered belts, and multitude of fabric combinations, were enough for me to think that my next shopping-venture will be having tulle layers first on my list of must-haves.

Rock Chiq The entire line was colorful and feminine, full of spunk, and with a dash of adult elegance.

Black Halo Seductive and sleek. Perfect additions to complete your collection of head-turning ensembles.

Work Clothes The funnest collection of all. Epitomized the carefree-casualness of a California girl’s atmosphere.
Here are more, at random. Will add the content of the designers as soon as I find the information:
They were all gorgeous but she ^^ was my favorite!!
Be sure to follow SFFAMA on twitter at @SFFAMAinc and join their fanpage on facebook.com

A Body Butter for Coconut Lovers
Coconut lovers rejoice! Nothing says “vacation” quite like a fresh coconut and I am a coconut fanatic! Often, beauty brands just don’t get that coconut scent right. It’s often too sweet, to funky, or to blended with all the wrong fruits and because of this our favorite summer seed (yes, a seed, not a fruit or a nut) gets a very bad reputation. How many times have I heard, “Oh! I hate coconut products!” but, please, don’t give up on the island necessity just yet. This week, for the sake of the season and the sake of the coconut, I’ve been trying and testing coconut products to feature galore.
It’s the perfect time to get your coconut fix and, alas, give coconut beauty products a second chance.
First up, ONE Natural Body Butter in “You Wild Coconut, You! ”
96.9% Natural 100% Safe for our Planet. ONE’s natural creamy body butter is made out of Shea. For that extra emollient and rich layer of moisture “You Wild Coconut, You!” does the job and envelopes you in that subtle and sweet aroma reminiscent of the atmosphere of a hot and humid oasis. The kind of weather that we, San Francisco ladies, crave. Due to our unpredictable and often windy August. One night is all it takes to get addicted to this decadent moisturizer. It instantly smooths dry, chapped, and tired skin. Plus, at under $10,it’s a STEAL! Find it at your nearest Bay Area Target. Don’t forget to follow me on twitter @miratorres!
10 reasons to join the Green By Design Summer Light Challenge
I also intern as a Social Media Rep for eco-fashion resource, Green By Design. We’re doing a Summer Light Challenge= 10 pieces of clothing for 91 days. You should join…Read on for more info and just think about it… Thank you, you lovely person, you!
With the fear of nagging and harassing readers, I’m going to refuse to roll on and on in this post with an extensive informative essay about why you should join our Summer Light Challenge. If you haven’t figured out how fantastically genius this extremely gutsy, and both mentally and environmentally rewarding fashion provocation is going to be, then hopefully this docket of the ”Top 10 Reasons Why” will have you soon convinced:
10. You can do a Travel Light Summer Light Challenge. You don’t have to do the whole three month, 91 day, summer season shebang! Minimize with 10 pieces for a quick summer trip. All the benefits with out the long-term commitment.Pack light, go green, be happy!
9. You’ve got support! At some point you’re probably going to think “What on eco-earth did I do?” but have no fear. You are not alone. We’ve got your back! Not only do you have the whole staff of Green By Design to annex but other eco-leaders like editor Brad Bennett, of Commerce with a Conscience, as well as the lovelies of Sashay Magazine and Ethical Style are supporting (and surviving) this eco-accomplishment, too.
8. Master your mix and match skills. Get your creative combination juices flowing. Trying new twists and turns, pairs and partners with daring color matches and clothing styles, will produce that a clothing diet can definitely teach you a few new wardrobe wisdoms. Grab a few tips from this post to get you started.
7. Get your moneys worth out of every item. No need to feel guilty about that $273 pair of heels you just bought. Wearing them consecutively for summer’s 91 days divides into paying $3.00/day when you wear them everyday. On a daily basis, the average person spends more on a latte. Ahh…yes. Did that justification feel like boulders of your shoulders, too?
6. Discover yourself as you rock your wardrobe favorites relentlessly. After finding your favorite pieces (albeit, through trial and error) you will get to know who YOU are as a fashion icon. An “aha!” moment is bound to happen: Who knew you looked so great in yellow? or Yes, you CAN savagely rock tie-dye leggings like no other. Fashion will lead the way to the path of self-enlightenment and it shall be sweet.
5. Go guilt-free bananas with accessories! Have you seen our editor Celestyna’s pimpin’ collection? This is the fun part. Sometimes we’re so caught up in picking out our actual outfit that we neglect our own collection of darling jewels and hats which help complete our outfits. This summer, with the simplified wardrobe, you’ll have plenty of time to put together your accessory ensemble and hopefully rediscover favorite pieces that you’ve long forgotten. Be sure to check out the GBD-SLC blog featuring the power of accessories with Iris Ipfel.
4.Less Laundry… Need I say more? On to the next.
3.Simplify your summer…because you are bound to have better things to tend to. Like hanging out on the poolside, sipping mimosas, and checking out… the thermometer.
2. Support your community. Aside from helping promote your favorite Eco designers and vintage finds, do your research! Learn what’s happening in your local Eco movement and better understand the concept of Eco fashion and local initiatives on a national and global level. We’re passionate about every step that a garment takes to be made and it’s surely first-rate to know where your clothes are coming from and to make sure we give back to the places we call home.
1.Lower your carbon footprint. Most important! We’re not doing this challenge to sharpen our fashion techniques. Those are all just extra benefits that come with the real goal: Helping the environment. Less consumption, less pollution, and less disposal. Green By Design’s Summer Light Challenge is a great-hearted initiative bent on saving the world by making smarter decisions that lead to bigger impacts. Minimizing our wardrobe is only the beginning.
No soap box or speakerphone needed. Ladies and gents, this summer, our Summer Light Challenge is definitely worth a try.
