Tonight: Fashion Feud at the Rickshaw Stop hosted by SFFAMA and Scion
It’s been taking a few moments for me to really get back into the scene of events and things. (Sorry for the hiatus.) After an extremely busy Holiday, filled with both fashion and family, it still feels like I need a vacation from my own vacation… But, maybe a little taste is all I need to get back in the zone. I’m breaking myself back into the events scene with the SFFAMA Inc. “Fashion Feud: Part One.”
Tonight, Tuesday, January 11, 2011, Scion and the San Francisco Fashion and Merchandise Alliance is hosting the San Francisco “Fashion Feud” at the Rickshaw Stop on Fell St. Sex + Design Editors, Maggie Alhadeff (of Mimosas in Bed) and Stacy Lee, (of Fashionablee) will be judging the face-off between designers Crystal Hermann and Mary M. Yanez. Starting at 7:00 PM, designers, models, and Pigment Cosmetics will be “feud-ing” their fashion, style, and beauty skills during a fierce competition that will reward only the best of the best.
This is a FREE event open to the public so be sure to stop by to get your dose of San Francisco fashion.

SFFAMA and Bay Area Bloggers unite for “Why Blog About Fashion” Mash-Up
It was a good night, 11/18. Perhaps, the best Thursday night that I’ve had in a long time. Haha… Let’s just say, any night you meet some of San Francisco’s finest and fashionable minds, get a fully loaded $16 Long Island Iced Tea, and run into a sexy pack of Prada model man-wolves, it’s going to be a fun San Francisco memory to remember…But details for that will be for another post, which might be a little TMI, even if nothing really happened. (FYI: I’m married. Serious meh! But I’d never wanna ruin a good thing over nothing.)
Anyways, the important part of the night was the Mash-Up. It was such an interesting and exciting panel. Everyone had something fantastic to contribute and each of us had individual styles and personalities that really made the entire discussion a worth-while experience as a whole.
Here are few tips that I jotted down (not exact words) for aspiring bloggers out there:
- Share your voice! There is enough space for everyone on the internet.
- The fastest way to get a following is to start a facebook fanpage with a vanity URL. (Siv Lam of Jcrewaholics.com)
- Tumblr is an easy way to get your blog started. It can also be synced to your facebook and twitter account. (Maggie of Mimosasinbed.blogspot.com)
- For OOTD (Outfit of the day) posts, don’t struggle with a tripod, have other people take your pictures for you. (Christina pr ProFreshStyle.com, and Avalonne from Thegirlfromhkldnsf.com, have friends and family giving them a hand.)
- Don’t be afraid to document everything! . Our blogs/voices will be the documentation of this generation and when future generations want to look back for inspiration it will be our blogs that will be deemed “vintage.” (Ranier of TheFalco.com)
- Share the load! If posting regularly isn’t easy, look for other interested writers with the same passion and writing style as you to help contribute to the site in exchange for exposure. (Nicole of StyleBust)
- Find your “niche” and stay true to it. Look for sponsors and article ideas of things that you personally like and will wear. Once you have a common subject, the easier it will be to maintain posts and followers. (Joanna of 360fashion.net)

Face Value at the SFFAMA Mash-Up
And now for some real vanity…
Whenever there is a huge event, I usually post up a pic stating the products I used. This becomes my “Face Value” Post. This was my look at the recent SFFAMA Inc. Fashion Mash-up Forum: Why Blog ABout Fashion?
