Recap: Fashion’s Night Out with The Beauty Bohemian

Officially called Fashion’s Night Out, September 8 was more than abundant with boutiques, department stores, and more filled with preparations and events to woo and serenade the fashionistas and stylistas into their splurge-worthy domains.   I started my rendezvous at 5 Claude Lane, where the people of SFFAMA (the San Francisco Fashion and Merchandise Alliance) asked me to help host their completely banging and packed (and my personal favorite of the night) Fashion Racked Trunk Show where ladies and gents could shop and sip wine, cocktails, and sample tequila ice cream, for most the night. A few of my local Bay Area favorites were present to show off their wares. Gorgeously fun accessories by Work Play Date, (above) adorable and dainty staples by White Petals, edgy and sophisticated styles of Homme by Dahae Elyse Kim, and funky men’s undergarments by Victor’s Promise were amongst the variety.

Of course, running into my favorite fellow bloggers is always a blast, too. Molly of Rabbit Foot Fern (above with me) and Jacyn of Sugar Lips Lifestyle Tips were there hosting the event as well.(Heart those girls!) I didn’t want to miss a thing, so me and Molly snuck off towards the shopping centers to see what was going on over there. The Westfield was having a massive specials and discounts extravaganza which included an arsenal of their stores, from Betsey Johnson to Madewell, and we had VIP access to The Dome, which held a sweet spot where shoppers could rest and relax, drink cocktails, eat sample size servings from Lark Creek Steak, Straits, Cupola, and feast their eyes on supermodels walking around, sporting wearable art.  As we headed back to 5 Claude Lane, we stopped by Neiman Marcus to ogle the emerging designers from Academy of Art University, there was one very different and incredibly impressive designer on every floor!  Lastly, I ran into the fabulous crew of ShopNear.me where we talked fashion, fun, and stopped by to sip a few last cocktails before calling it a night, at Ben Sherman (they had cranberry vodkas) and Mango. (Champagne!)  All in all, Fashion’s Night Out isn’t just a night to celebrate style, it’s shopping alongside drinks, great friends, and fabulous discounts… It’s a night where the simple art of shopping brings itself to an entirely new level of sophistication, enhancing unforgettable memories with extraordinary people and supporting astonishing style.

This Weekend is the Vintage Fashion Expo in San Francisco

Vintage clothes are like a drug to me. When I head out to shop, I don’t head towards boutiques or high-end designers first, I head to the nearest thrift shop, consignment store, or Goodwill. Why? Not just because buying used goods helps alleviate pollution on the environment (which is a fantastic reason all in itself) but also because there is something utterly addictive and euphoric about finding that rare, one-of-a-kind garment at a ridiculously dirt cheap price. Like searching for a diamond in the rough or digging for gold, finding a gently used designer dress or quilted purse can really get any fashionistas gears-a-grinding.  So, behold my fabulous news to you:

This weekend is the Vintage Fashion Expo in San Francisco. The abundance of vintage treasure will be yours for the taking as vendors line up inside San Francisco’s Concourse Exhibition Center to sell fashions and finds from every era. Everything from timeless chandelier earrings, to the most up-to-the-minute trend of high waisted pants;  the possibilities of finding your next favorite vintage piece will be infinite.

Remember to download a discount coupon from the Vintage Fashion Expo website to your Smartphone.

Look who I found checking out the Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica. None other than Miss Rachel Zoe!

(I see so many clothes that I want to rip and wear right out of this picture!!)

Project San Francisco 2011 with The Beauty Bohemian

If you didn’t know, Project San Francisco is an annual runway event that showcases up and coming local designers from Bay Area universities and colleges. Held at the Summit on February 17, last month’s Project San Francisco was also a benefit for Dress For SuccessSan Francisco Fashion And Merchants Alliance. Lucky me won two tickets to the fashion show from one of my favorite San Francisco Fashion Blogs, SFIndie Fashion, and brought one of my favorite ladies, Siv of Jcrewaholics, with me. I even met a bunch of other lovely fashion bloggers known as the Digitally Chic group, below.

By far one of my favorite runway events in the Bay, Project San Francisco dazzled and delighted the crowd of people showcasing wares and wardrobes diverse in plenty of materials and styles. You can see the full list of designers by clicking here on the Project San Francisco Website.

My favorite lines were from Revelation by ME and the jewelry of MsBelleza.

Presented this year by Eventbrite, they had tables filled with the most delectable sushi and Eventbrite themed cake pops!  Extra plus, it was open bar.

It was a damp and rainy day, so I regrettably under dressed  by opting for my trustee vintage black blazer and Unisex American Apparel flannel scarf (*which I love because it’s oh-so cozy) to keep me toasty as I had to take public transit. Despite the weather The Summit was packed, the line was out the door, and plenty of late-comers were disappointed that they weren’t allowed to get in. Note to fashion event go-ers: Get your tickets online at Eventbrite!  SFFAMA’s Project San Francisco is definitely worth the pre-planning.

Oh yes…and there were goody bags!
