Lots of sex, blood, and boobs. I can do with a little less blood. Moments of the show seem so annoyingly unrealistic that they feel like they came straight out of clips from a comic book but that’s perhaps to satisfy the gore-thirsty comic lovers that surrounded them like bees to honey at the last Comic Convention. I do like looking at this though:

I just read another blog that stated that they thought that the actor, Dustin Clare, didn’t bring enough wow-factor to the plate like it’s original Spartacus star. Funny, because that’s how I felt about that other Spartacus actor in the beginning, too. These TV actors have a way of growing on you, I suppose. (Unfortunately, the reason why they did a prequel is because Andy Whitfield, the original star of the show, was diagnosed with cancer and had to resign from his role. They are currently casting for a new Spartacus. Best of luck to him and I hope that he regains his health… I’m going to find it very hard to envision anyone else as STARZ’s Spartacus. )

A few gripes: This was also an issue I had with the last Spartacus series – As much as I loved it and am loving the current series so far, Please! For the love of Zeus! Starz crew, Give a little more attention to detail! Women in the olden days of Capua didn’t wear Forever 21 earrings, rock blunt bangs, hair extensions, or sport butterfly tattoos. Cover it up and brainstorm a little more authenticity for your costumes on characters. I’m sure a big TV show like Spartacus has enough budget to Ebay some tattoo cover up, anywho.

Otherwise, it’s pretty fantastic. You have officially hook, lined, and sinkered me into making this my new guilty-pleasure on TV.

Coconut lovers rejoice! Nothing says “vacation” quite like a fresh coconut and I am a coconut fanatic! Often, beauty brands just don’t get that coconut scent right. It’s often too sweet, to funky, or to blended with all the wrong fruits and because of this our favorite summer seed (yes, a seed, not a fruit or a nut) gets a very bad reputation. How many times have I heard, “Oh! I hate coconut products!” but, please, don’t give up on the island necessity just yet. This week, for the sake of the season and the sake of the coconut, I’ve been trying and testing coconut products to feature galore.

It’s the perfect time to get your coconut fix and, alas, give coconut beauty products a second chance.

First up, ONE Natural Body Butter in “You Wild Coconut, You! ”

96.9% Natural 100% Safe for our Planet. ONE’s natural creamy body butter is made out of Shea. For that extra emollient and rich layer of moisture “You Wild Coconut, You!” does the job and envelopes you in that subtle and sweet aroma reminiscent of the atmosphere of a hot and humid oasis. The kind of weather that we, San Francisco ladies, crave. Due to our unpredictable and often windy August. One night is all it takes to get addicted to this decadent moisturizer. It instantly smooths dry, chapped, and tired skin. Plus, at under $10,it’s a STEAL! Find it at your nearest Bay Area Target. Don’t forget to follow me on twitter @miratorres!

Blogging. Who thought up that word?

After a year as the San Francisco Beauty Examiner, I’ve finally decided to allow myself some growth and start my own blog. Why not? It sounded like a fun idea and it seemed like something that I could really, really get into.

And it probably isn’t a suprise to anyone that I’ve made it primarly a beauty site. If you’ve met me before you know that I’m an utter beauty junkie. I am product obsessed and on a constant mission to find only the most fabulous glamifying loot, at the cheapest possible price, and in the least amount of time it takes. But there’s so much more to life than lipstick, isn’t there?

So…What else am I going to put on here, you ask.

Well, everything. All that is of my little hearts’ content. I hope you don’t mind. Makeup, music, books, food, parenting, (I’m a mama, too, ya know!) green living…All kinds of stuff! And reviews…perhaps, lots and lots of reviews. From household cleaning items to the latest best-seller. A quick feature about a local greasy spoon or the latest self-tanner on the market. I think that’s the beauty of these blog-things…You can kinda just do whatever you want.

And the best part? Readers can read whatever they want, too. So I won’t be unabashadly annoying the crap out of everyone with my oversharing, either.

Yes. This is going to be fun.

So hold on to your bloomers and come with me on this new found voyage - my blog. This is the Beauty Bohemian, where I’m going to let you know about unconventional beauty…Simplified.

And well, everything else I can think of.

‘Til next time, fellow beauty bohemian blog babes!

xo
