Who is Skylar Grey? (and suggestions for getting her red carpet red lips!)
Skylar Grey just made it on the music map headed towards a household name by becoming one of the best performances of last night’s Grammy Awards 2011. Outshining stars like Bruno Mars and Justin Beiber, now everyone want to know…Who the heck is Skylar Grey? Formerly known as Holly Brook, who sang with Fort Minor in the song “Where’d You Go,” Skylar Grey is now the Grammy-nominated co-writer for all three versions of the Rihanna and Eminem chart topper “Love the Way You Lie” and is the vocal feature in the smash hit “I Need a Doctor” with Dr.Dre.
You can read more details, including the rise of her music career, on Wikipedia.
Now to beauty! Yes. Last night, she was a total rock star but, personally, I was absolutely loving her red stained lips during her Red Carpet interview with Chris Booker. To grab your own new tube of vintage red lipsticks ispired by Skylar Grey, try my picks below:
NYX’s Snow White: Smooth, very pigmented, and perfect for any skintone. At under $5 – it can’t be beat! Find it at your nearest Bay Area Ulta Cosmetics and Salon.
NARS Cruella: These lip pencils are worth every penny. They offer precision application, long lasting, are made of terrifically rich ingredients, and last forever!! (Ok. Not forever but a really long time.) Available at Sephora on Powell St.
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Rose: Chapped and lackluster lips beware! The latest creation of the Burt’s Bees line are super moisturizing, sweetly flavored, ultra rich, and all-natural balms that are absolutely perfect. Available at your local drugstore or online at Burt’s Bees.

SeeZenn.com picks for my fall/winter fashion wardrobe
The SeeZenn.com fashion show is later today and I’ve been stalking their website with products I want to purchase. They have already provided me my fabulous attire for the evening. The leopard print dress below. Woot woot! Heard it was going to rain so I wanted to stay warm and fabulous! (and if you didn’t know already, I’m a NUT about animal prints. )
Here a few other things I’m jotting down on my list of fall/winter fashion shopping:
This Short Sleeve Dress
This Military Jacket. Big trend for fall 2010
And I love the lace and bedazzle on this cutie. I’d wear it everyday!
See you tonight, ladies! Here is the article to the Fashion for more details and to find out how to RSVP: http://www.examiner.com/beauty-and-accessories-in-san-francisco/fall-fashion-show-at-seezenn-com-s-new-westfield-shop
Eyelashes I’m Eyeing at Eyemimo and False Eyelash Tips
Pretty up today from 1:30pm to 6:30pm at the Eyemimo “Kensington Tea Party” at the Kensington Hotel at Union Square. There will be drinks, snacks, and tons of other things going on with the girls.
As promised in my previous Examiner article: http://www.examiner.com/beauty-and-accessories-in-san-francisco/let-eyemimo-doll-you-up-this-saturday-at-the-kensington-tea-party I’m picking out my three favorite Eyemimo artificial lashes for you to try whenever you’re feeling adventurous. The ladies of Eyemimo sent me five of their favorites for me to critic and review and these are the ones I’m loving:
When it comes to casual dates, girly brunches, or work parties, if I feel the need to up the gorgeous, I instantly run to a pair of false lashes. The Eyemimo NTR14 does the best job, helping me look bedroom-eyed, without looking overdone, or weighing my eyes down to beddy-bye. (Which a lot of false lashes can do.)

For photoshoots, like work headshots, art shows, and fashiony things, I’m adoring the Eyemimo NTR02. Just the right allure, while still looking natural. There is a similar one at MAC (MAC Lash 7?) that I just adore and this one comes for less then half the price!

For serious glam: Eyemimo NTR11. Love the criss cross design, which will add both fun, length, and volume.
Three extra tips with false lashes:
- They are reusable so don’t throw them away. Leave them in a cap full of rubbing alchohol and they will clean and sterlize perfectly for the next use. You can get a good 6-10 uses out of some lashes.
- Lashes are not one size fits all. Cut lashes to the size of YOUR eye starting from the inner lash corner using nail scissors.
- For perfect lash application use a tweezer to poke, prod, and place the lash into place while drying. Also, when applying lashes, make sure that the glue is at a tacky-state of dryness first. Freshly applied glue is the epic reason of lash giver-uppers. Tacky glue FTW…blow it likes it’s on fire. Haha
Tea for two later, ladies?
I’m even more stoked to be heading to a Union Square hotel. I’m kinda a fancy hotel stocker.
What I want from Mango
I adore MANGO stuff! Especially this season where the adorable curvy and insanely gorgeous ScarJo graces the face of their ads and magazine. MANGO fashion reminds me of one of my favorite fashion decades: The urban rhapsody of 70′s style that is effortless, functional, and feminine. Exactly the kind of clothes that I absolutely adore. Here is a list of the four products that I’m going to track, find, and purchase at tomorrow’s Marie Claie and MANGO event at 5:00 pm.
1. HANDBAG G CANTINA C - I have a thing for Cantina-style bags. It reminds me of traveling, going on adventures, and carrying everything you would possible need for the trip. I want MANGO’s in Toffee. Really just because I have enough black purses and the toffee color will look great with the adorable greige and light gray boots I just bought.
2. BOOT 6/1 VALLIT2 C - I have a feeling that these are going to be my go-to boots for fall 2010. They go with EVERYTHING! from a cute pheasant dress to black tights to jeans…Did I say everything?
3. DRESS WTD SETEMBRE - I love a great dress. One that can get me through San Francisco’s unpredicatble weather of freezing cold and sunshine is a “winner, winner chicken dinner” in my book. This one is beautiful. With adorable colors amidst a black background, makes for maximum mix and matching with my wardrobe.
4. HANDBAG M MADELLT3 - Okay. I couldn’t stop at three. And I lied. I, so, I lied. I can not get enough black bags in my closet and black bags with quilts? I LOVE! This one is only $69.90 is a steal! I might get one in every color if I’m feeling fabulous tomorrow night.
See you there, ladies. Word is there will be cocktails! Woot woot.
What Not To Wear’s Clinton Kelly at Macy’s Union Square
Tomorrow! Click here for the details.
He is my favorite What Not To Wear-er…gush! Can’t wait to snag a picture with him. His book “Freakin’ Fabulous” is actually the reason why I am so quick and fantastic at making weekend breakfast. (See “French Omelette” recipe in his book.) FYI: He has a new one coming out, “Oh No She Didn’t” and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. They’re extremely helpful and knowledgable. Plus, I am serious sucker for Self-Improvement books.
Picture is from AskMen.com – He’s a cutie, huh?

Levi’s Curve ID blogger party at Levi’s Union Square
Last Tuesday, before the Free Denim Curve ID chaos on Friday, bloggers and press gathered at the Levi’s flagship store at Union Square to get a closer look at the latest launch by the legendary denim brand, Levi’s Curve ID. A new denim fitting system that separates women into three curvy categories or fits: Slight Curve, Demi Curve, and Bold Curve. All in order to find the perfect jeans that will make all our sexy-bootie jean desires come true.
What do women hate shopping for most? Bras, bathing suits, and denim. Which is probably why Levi’s made sure that our experience looking for our perfect Curve ID was a pleasant one, clad with cocktails (Sophia Coppola’s canned Champagne) and sugary indulgences. (Sticky caramel pops dipped in sugar, chocolate almond bars topped with white chocolate pieces, and truffles…the list goes on!) But have no fear, ladies, whether you’re shopping experience is sugar-induced or not, once you get yourself measured and find you ideal “curve,” the rest is fool-proof gravy. It took about four pairs before finding my perfect fit, I started as a 28×30 Demi Curve with the final verdict of my size being a size 29×30 Slight Curve (should I tell you that? Oh well, I just did…) and I absolutely ADORE my new Curve ID jeans. No muffin top, no plumbers crack in the back, no belt…No problem! It really does hug, flatter, and feel great.
The only problems I ran into is that the Levi’s store didn’t have the style I wanted in the size I was. Which was kind of a bummer because those zipper black denims where looking mighty fantastic. Nonetheless, I went home completely satisfied with what I found. A Slight Curve Skinny in a dark wash.
When I asked the Levi’s specialist, “how do they know which curve is what?” she replied that it was top secret and the information couldn’t be shared. Oooh, Levi’s! You so got me. And I’m so coming back for those black zipper denims.
You can find more pictures of the event on my Facebook fan page under the Levi’s album. Just click here.
