I had the pleasure of doing a quick interview with Jacyn, the brains behind the ever-so awesome San Francisco-based lifestyle blog Sugar Lips Lifestyle Tips. Check out her website by clicking here, follow her twitter, “like” her facebook fan page, and get to know more about the brunette bombshell by reading what her 5 favorite things are below:

1. Favorite Shoe

My favorite shoe is a classic black peep-toe pump. It matches everything classic and trendy without forcing the look and still shows off the pedicure. My favorite show designer? Christian Louboutin of course!

2. Favorite Designer

My favorite designer is the ever classic Valentino. He evokes pure femininity and elegance in every design that invites the female wearing it to transform into their inner goddess. His work is sensual and sexy highlighting the very best in every woman’s body. He’s an icon and a legend.

3. Favorite San Francisco Restaurant

This is so hard to choose… We are among so many greats. Gary Danko still holds the trophy for best overall experience. Delphina is my all time favorite go to for a great dish and perfectly paired wine.

4. Favorite Piece of Clothing

My favorite piece of clothing in my closet are a very worn, broken-in pair of Joes Jeans that are older than most people’s dogs. I love them.

5. Favorite Qoute

The Beauty Bohemian: Cruelty Free Favorite with Mira Torres

Josie Maran Argan Oil Lipstick in Bambolina - I’m a sucker for pink lipsticks and this one is so deliciuosly pink I couldn’t help but fall in love with it at first try. It’s also infused with Argan oil so, unlike other typical high pigment lipsticks, it moisturizes instead of dries out the lips.

Mineral Fusion Tinted Moisturizer in Olive – I just found this a few weeks ago but I can already tell that I probably won’t ever be able to live my life without it. It’s actually improved my acne-prone skin’s condition, keeps away winter dryness, and covers just enough to hide any minor flaws. It is perfect for everyday and it’s available at Whole Foods! Whole Foods has really impressed me with their selection of in-store beauty brands. Everyone needs to get in there and shop the beauty aisle…Oh, if you’re hungry, buy and try some Bolani and Bolani spreads. They’re my favorite vegan munchies.

Qupid Faux Leather Revive Lace-up Boots – With the exception of a few high-end staple items in my closet, I’m a stickler for only using and wearing faux fur. I have an arsenal of man-made material shoes but my particular favorite this winter is my Nordic Print-lined boots by Qupid. They were actually featured in a shoestalking slideshow on San Francisco’s refinery29.com! They can be worn two ways and They’re also a total steal  for under $50.

Fleece-lined Leopard Print TOMS Shoes- I’m a sucker for TOMS. Alongside my Converse’s, they fast became one of my favorite go-to shoes for errand running. They’re incredibly comfy and backed up by a wholesome and charitable concept. I don’t have these fleece-lines ones yet, but I want them, terribly! I’m getting them for Christmas. Santa said so. :-)

I adore Vaute Couture! Vaute Couture anything, really. I worked with an Eco Fashioin website for years and was exposed to a billion eco and cruelty-free fashion labels. Two years later and Vaute Couture is still one of my personal, front running favorites. Their materials are incredibly soft and every design is completely comfortable, flattering, and fashionable. Founder and designer, Leanne Mai-Ly Hilgart is actually a model turned revolutionary Chicago-based, eco-designer who started one of the first cruelty-free, 100% vegan clothing companies on her own. The coats are to die for but I am in love with her tees. Especially the Oversized Sweater Tees which are perfect for San Francisco’s crazy unpredictable climate.

Tatcha Aburatorigami Blotting Papers. Fragrance-free. Powder-free. Oil-free. All-natural, biodegradable and absolutely no animal testing. The pretty, geisha-clad envelope is so easy to just store and have at the ready in one’s clutch or purse. They’re incredibly amazing at soaking up excess oil. I can avoid having to reapply makeup when I’m crunched for time and they are especially handy for days when I’m running from one place to another… or some nights one event to another.

It’s a complete misconception that it’s expensive or inconveniencing – Going cruelty-free is so easy! Everything nowadays is usually labeled or placed in their own seperate eco-centered spaces and most companies are striving to reach for a better, more earth and animal-friendly code of ethics making cruelty-free living far more accessible than it once was. Honestly, a lot of people are already using cruelty-free products (like MAC, Revlon, Bare Escentuals, and Smashbox) and they don’t even know it! Which I think is fantastic! Being eco and cruelty-free should be a norm for products and companies. Not just an option. Personally, I believe that being “good” counts most in the little things. Recycling bottles, vintage shopping, going local with groceries, using cruelty-free products – It’s important that we do all these little things everyday. They add up and  lead to the main goal – Which is for a better life and living for everyone now and in the future.

Simply Impressed by ShoeDazzle’s STEADY Boot

Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical withShoeDazzle. After all, though shoes are fun and I buy them often, anything that is remotely like an automatic payment is quite scary and not very smart for someone with a horrible shopping addiction like myself. Plus, a million questions ran through my head.  What if the shoes are crappy? What if I hate the selection? What if I can’t get my money back? What if I forget? And more importantly, will it be worth my hard earned $39.95? So, when I was given the opportunity to test out a pair of ShoeDazzle shoes, I hopped on it like a typical shoe-obsessed fashion fiend. Within the week, the shoes were at my door. Perfectly packaged in the cutest hot pink box adorned with the company label. The size 9 fit to a tee – absolutely true to size. And by golly were they comfy. I opted for the STEADY boho-chic boot in Maroon at first (Yah, was trying something different and should have known I’m a creature of habit) but opted to exchange it for a pair in black. Which was a breeze by the way! The sticker is already packaged, you can hand it to your UPS guy when he hits your neighborhood, and if there are any complications just give them a quick call and they are more than happy to fix the problem.

Though the process of purchasing and exchanging the shoes was a breeze, I was most concerned on whether the affordable price was going to give me the most bang for my buck. So, I wore those suckers out and about like there was no tomorrow for the rest of the week. I have to say, with the STEADY, the quality and comfort can be compared to a Seychelles… And for less than more than half the price, it could definitely give the boutique brand a run for it’s money.

So, it was a happy ending. ShoeDazzle’s STEADY boot has instantly become my walking shoe, perfect for this typical San Francisco late Summer/Fall transition. I could literally walk in them all day… and I have! Plus, the silhouette, style, and suede really gives off a luxurious look for way less. My favorite way to wear it is with a beige cape I bought for a steal at H&M and my favorite stretchy pair of J Brand Black Jean Leggings. Add on some accessories and I am glossy mag ready! Plus, when an Indian summer hits, I can pull off the cape and rock the staple black tank top I have cleverly worn underneath. Needless to say, I’ve signed up for the monthly ShoeDazzle club and eagerly anticipate the monthly showroom sent my way. Their selection of products -everything from bags, to accessories,to pajamas! – is amazing and if you don’t want or can’t find anything to buy for that month just skip it. Simple as that. The beginning quiz is fun to take, too. I’ve probably done it like 5 times just for kicks. Haha!

You and a friend can try ShoeDazzle for free with the StyleSays + ShoeDazzle giveaway going on right now. Just head to the StyeSays giveaway page here: http://on.fb.me/pKsRWh

P.S. It all started with Kim Kardashian and now Perez Hilton is the latest ShoeDazzle stylist. What do you think about that? I’m not really sure what kind of credibility Perez has style-wise but…I guess we’ll see.

Beyonce in a Champagne Haute Hippie Blouse

Multi-talented and still making waves with her beautiful face, banging body, and catchy musical beats. The newlywed, soon-to-be mama, Beyonce, is not just a legendary diva but also a style icon. I found this picture of her wearing the Haute Hippie Champagne Blouse and had to find out how and where to get it for myself. It’s the perfect “I’m gorgeous without even trying” top that is asbolutely ideal to wear for days when you might just run into a few old friends or even an ex-boyfriend. Ha! One must always be prepared! Beyonce wore it with a nice dark pair of skinny jeans and nude pumps but there are other ways to rock it, too. How about a pair of black leggings and black booties? Or a pair of denim shorts and platform esperadilles for spring? This top will transition you throughout the year making it an ideal staple that you can rock in a million different ways and with its chiffon material, sensual draping, and curve hugging seams, whether you’re Beyonce or not, you can bet that only your best assets will be noticed. More options? Try the ultimate luxury of the Chloe’s Silk Mouselline Ruffle Blouse or a super steal with Nasty Gal’s Utility Bat Wing.

Three Ways to Wear Thigh High Socks

Knee high socks are a new fall trend that is about to go full throttle in the fashion fiend world. In an array of colors, textures, and cloths, the knee high sock will be the newfound accessory that will be keeping us warm while keeping us stylish. Wearing them can be quite intimidating, especially if there’s no guidance to ensure that you’re wearing them to attract only your best parts. Here are three fun and simple ways to wear thigh high socks so that you look like a trendsetting fashion do and not a trend trampling fashion don’t.

With a pleated skirt:  Make sure it hits right above the knee, so that you show just a little bit of skin. The parallel pleats will elongate your legs and draw attention to only your most important curves instead of clumps. Perfect for work! Try Anne Klein’s Over The Knee Thigh High Stocking.

With platforms: The new socks and open-toe trend isn’t for everyone, but for those of us that want to give something new a try, a pair of open toes and knee highs put together, are a fun and quirky way to switch up any outfit.Try Sock It to Me Thigh High Tights.

With denim shorts: Transition those denim short into cooler weather by pairing it with a fun, neutral pair of knee high socks in black for dark brown.  Rolling them just below your thighs will give a playful hint of sensuality without having to bare it all. Try Grey Sweater Thigh High Socks.

30 Day Challenge: Your Zodiac Sign and if you Think it Fits

Wasn’t sure how to answer this so I went ahead and just found all the tweets with the hash tag #Scorpio… To see what it says and if I “think it fits.”

A #Scorpio either cares too much, or does not care at all.

Absolutely. Sometimes it takes me a minute to make a decision, but when my mind is made up it is pretty much all or nothing. It is very rare (almost never) for me to decide on any middle ground.

#Scorpio will fight for what they want.

I never get violent but I will fixate on something I want and work on it until I get it. If I want it bad enough, I will never take no for an answer.

A #Scorpio date will actually be very sweet. It’s only when you cross them will they destroy you.

Disagree. I never aim to destroy people. I think it is a waste of energy and time to purposely plan/plot evil doings for the sake of revenge or self satisfaction. I am a firm believer in karma and I know that people will get what they deserve no matter what.

No matter what the emotions are, you’ll rarely see them reflected in #Scorpios frozen, immobile face.

No way. I am known for the inability to hide any and all of my emotions. The people closest to me know exactly what and how I am feeling just by looking at my face.

Woot! This is the 15th question of the 30 Day Challenge! That means I am half way through! I know I’m not doing it consecutively but it’s more fun and easier to just type it in when I have time.  To celebrate, I’m going to pour a glass of my favorite wine. :-)

Have a fabulous night everyone!

Love,

Mira

P.S. It was insanely gorgeous today in San Francisco! I wish it could always be this sunny here.

About to start Grillin' and Chillin' for @thestylesays blogger meet up today at our offices.

30 Day Challenge: What You Wore Today

Oooh! This one is fun! I actually get to do an outfit post. Which I never do because I am absolutely unskilled at the talent of whole body self portraits and don’t have a photographer at the ready to shoot my daily wares. But I ran into a Sephora to use the photobooth to take some shots for hoots… And no, since I’m home and lazy, I’m not wearing this right now, right now but I can completely attest to the fact that I have pretty much every other day. I’m not even lying when I say I’ve worn it a whole darn lot. My high school self would pitch a fit. This grey shirt, jean shorts ensemble has become my go-to outfit and I’m actually totally in love and obsessed with it. Though it doesn’t convey the best influence. ;-)  It’s all in good fun…The shirt, I picked up for $5 at the last Sassy City Chicks event at Fort Mason. Denim Shorts are from Goodwill. And I spontaneously bought and threw on the earrings from Forever 21. every piece under $10! Cheap and cheerful. That’s how I roll…

Splurge or Steal: Kirsten Stewart’s Red Dress in GQ

I know, not everyone likes Kristen Stewart but I highly doubt there’s anyone out there that can deny the impeccable sultry and sexiness of a red dress.  So, when I came across the spread of Kirsten Stewart in the latest GQ, in all her pale and perfect glory. I needed a heart-shaped, skin-tight stunner in my life and I just couldn’t help but want to capture the allure of a dramatic red costume to own all on my own. After all, a red dress is a stylish evening staple that will be on trend for decades to come. The photos themselves definitely derive from  the inspiration and influence of old Hollywood Glamour.  Without a doubt, this GQ spread of the vampire starlet proved that her next role, as Snow White, is more than ready to be conquered. The waves, the water, the red lips. In fact, I’m quite sure she’s pretty much going to own it.

For a Splurge: Vena Cava Red Silk Chiffon Dress

Take the ripeness of red to a whole new altitude of fashion with this draped and gorgeous red silk chiffon dress by Vena Cava. The movement will make you look like you’re walking on a cloud.

For a Steal:  Michael by Michael Kors Belted Shoulder Red Dress

Keep it a little more classic with Michael by Michael Kors Belted Red Dress. Belted and banded in all the right areas. It will no doubt accentuate all of your favorite assets.

30 Day Challenge: Your Opinion About Your Body and How Comfortable You Are With It

My body. Oh boy. Really? We’re gonna go there? Ok. Let’s go there. Does anyone completely love their bodies? Like really, really love it. Well, since we’re being honest here, this is my dream body:

This is me:

The difference? That girl – above me – Long, lean, belly-free, pretty, with ginormous boobs…  That’s not me.

Yes, I know I’m not perfect and yes, every day has it’s mental highs and lows BUT I’m not going make myself miserable about my body because there’s a picture of somebody out there that I don’t look like that I wish I did.  Be happy with who your are, if you really can’t stand it and you’re not happy, do something about it. Change your perspective, get proactive, get inspired, exercise, go vegan – anything! Stop wasting your time worrying and start working toward the moment you can start to love who you are.
