Stay Warm in a Street-Chic White Scarf

One of the things I’m loving now is the Winter Wonderland ready white scarves that I keep spotting everywhere. Celebrities like Kate Moss and Zoe Saldana have already been seen wearing white cashmere scarves with their matching white pea coats or freshening up the look of a classic black overcoat. A white scarf in cashmere, wool, or cotton can make any winter or fall outfit look and feel its most decadent in texture all season. Smooth finishes and alluring graphic prints or embellishments can keep the look cool and trendy. Check out my four finds! Your fit to find one that’s right in your price range, too.  Old Navy’s Sequined Sweaterknit Infinity Scarf will have you bundled up in sparkles for a fraction of the others. My personal favorite, the We Are Owls Poster Printed Cashmere Scarf is cute, cuddly, and undeniably cool, Bottega Venetta’s handmade Knitted Wool and Suede Scarfis the ultimate in scarf luxuriousness, and Malene Birger makes a Chunky Wool Knit Scarf is brag-worthy with just a few hints of color.

Day to Night in Isabella Marant Feather and Bead Drop Earrings

There is something absolutely alluring about Isabella Marant’s Feather and Bead Drop Earrings. It’s a pair so gorgeous, with colors so provoking, that I could not help but want to create an outfit around them that could work from day to night. As versatile as pearls, as eye-catching as diamonds, the beauty of feather earrings is that they are like chameleons but better, because they go with everything while also enhancing whatever it is that is worn with it , too.  A gorgeous pair like Isabelle Marant’s deserves to be worn all day and all night. For a simple, sophisticated, fool-proof outfit be sure to pair your earrings with clothes in a neutral color combination that won’t compete. I’ve created an outfit with a gray and black mix, with just a hint of a unique blue from the Alexander Wang Diego Bucket Bag in Midnight to break it up a bit. The Mugler Padded Shoulder Blazer has a shape that is ready to be serious in the boardroom and also is ready let loose during the unexpected afterhours. A luxurious casual cotton top will keep you cool and comfortable throughout the non-stop hours of the day and, lastly, you can never go wrong with a gorgeous pair of suede Lace Up High Heel Boots by Sam Adelmen. Party or play, the Isabella Marant Feather and Bead Drop Earrings will never let you look less than spectacular.

WorkPlayDate’s Five Favorite Things

Meeting up with Angela Agabao, the designer, creator, and founder of Bay Area-based accessory line “WorkPlayDate” made me realize two things.

1. She is one the most bad ass and beautiful designers I know

2. I really need to get in on this crazy blossoming foodie scene of San Francisco.

We traveled along the up and coming Valencia St. neighborhood, ate Belgian fries at Frjtz,  chowed on morning buns at Tartine Bakery, and plotted our next sugar tooth-craving attack to be satisfied at Bi-Rite Creamery. But…what was even more interesting and eye-catching than the irresistable food in the Mission was the gorgeous and glamourous accessories that Work Play Date had to offer. We chatted about her one-of-a-kind designs which are sold at unbelievably afforable prices. Her rack of beautiful wares can be found at San Francisco’s most popular accessory trunk shows and with one look, it’s really no wonder why Work Play Date has been buzzed about as a local favorite on the San Francisco Chronicle and SF IndieFashion. Her pieces have even been styled and featured on Grammy-Award winning House DJ Sharam’s music video, too. See it in action by watching the video below, check out her website and shop and check out Angela’s Five Favorite Things below:

Five  Favorite Things with Angela of WorkPlayDate
1. Jeffrey Campbell, Senso, Jimmy Choo
2. Herve Leger
3. Stinking Rose
4. booty shorts I made from old jeans

Weekly Recap: Five Things That Make Me Happy

So, if you follow my tweets, you know that I have been stuck with this disgusting cold that makes me sound like Little Wayne. I haven’t been able to make it any further than the coffee shops near my house and when I do, people stare at me like I’m a modern day Medusa about to turn them into stone…Especially when I cough. So, I thought that I’d end the week with a blogpost to make me think of all the things that I’m happy about. Ward off this cold once and for all with some good juju. Despite the temperature dropping, my chest tightening up by the nanosecond, and other things that have made this week relatively tiring and tough – I’m determined to have it end on a positive note so that next week can begin with just the same.
1. My new obsession with Men’s Trouser Socks. I hit the jackpot in Forever 21 and H&M’s menswear departments. I’m not a sock-wearer so getting in on the new trend of the boots and socks combo meant I had to go shopping. The Women’s department of F21 and H&M were charging $7.50 to $10 for lengthy socks. I was like, “Uhm. No.” Then I remembered that when I wear men’s trouser socks, They go up pretty high. Off I went to venure and score! They’re $4.50 for a pack of two.  And they’re super thick and aren’t obnoxiously colorful. The boys’ department in H&M has some cute striped socks, too for about $7.95 for 5 extremely colorful pairs.
2. Meeting Martha Stewart Tomorrow at Macy’s Union Square. Kinda totally intimidated by that woman but I’m sure she’s harmless. I’ve read and watched her most my life and it’s no questioni that she is just a genius at making things both simple and elegant. You can meet her, too. With any qualifying $75 Martha Stewart product purchase or the purchase of her new book. The event starts at 11:00 AM. See you there!
3.Gel Manicures. For my birthday last week my mom sent me off on a manicure to try the new Gel Nail Manicure. That thing is crazy. A week later, it still looks like new, feels like smooth plastic, and it dries instantly. With all the typing I do, I just might start investing in this kind of thing. I’ll document as I go along to see how long it really lasts, how they take it off, and if it really jacks up the natural nail. (Like so many people have been telling me. Yikes.)
4. My Husband’s “Forever Alone” Face. It makes me laugh no matter how shitty, crappy, or tired I’m feeling. It’s nice to know that no matter how many times we’ve probably wanted to kill eachother, his simple reenactment of juvenile meme humor can make me forgive him for almost anything.
5. San Francisco’s Growing Food Scene. These past two weeks I’ve eaten at such amazing places in San Francisco. From Citizen Cake, Pizza Inferno, The Summit SF, Bi-Rite Creamery, Tartine Bakery, Dianda’s and last night at Locanda (Ah-mazing!) I can’t say enough about how awesome the choices of local eateries have become. I’m almost tempted to create a blog just for my food adventures since I feel so selfish not sharing and keeping the information all to myself. But… We’ll just have to see.
Of course, I’m also absolutely happy and thankful for my awesome friends and family. On a very personal level, these past three months have not been easy, incredibly sucky actually, and I really don’t know what and where I would be without all of them. I’m the luckiest person in the world to know such amazing individuals!
Love,
Mira

Splurge: Woman by Common Project Heel Oxfords

Steal: Forever 21 Leatherette Oxford Heels

The Reptilian Purse

The timeless trend of reptile purses for fall is a classic that will be used over and over. Would you settle for a faux or invest in a true reptilian casing?

Steal: Forever 21 Faux Reptile Handbag

30 Day Challenge: (Not) Something You Always Think “What If” About

I don’t like this question. “What if’s” get me depressed because the answers will never be there and it’s either too late or too soon to even think about it… My life has been so untraditional and full of unexpected twists and turns that thinking about other possibilities only really detracts from the goodness of the present moment. Instead, here’s an undeniably adorable picture of  a kitten and a puppy daschund. FYI: I’m finishing this 30 Day Challenge no matter if it takes me until next November of 2012.
